Holy Week stands as a pivot point for all of history.
We see the moment Love offered all of Himself for all of us, His beloveds.
What a sacred week.
Let’s behold Jesus as we trace His path through Holy Week.
Our Journey with Jesus through Holy Week
Each day of Holy Week, from Palm Sunday to Easter, let’s ponder the moments, the prophecies fulfilled, and the depth of Jesus’ heart for us. Here’s a way to read scriptures for each day, then behold Jesus as we:
-
- Watch what He does.
-
- Listen to what He says.
-
- Observe how His emotions are on display.
Imagine you are right beside Him in the moment. What do you feel as you behold Him? Notice the look in His eyes.
Attend to the way your heart responds. What does He say to you in that moment?
What might He also be saying to you right now? What words do you offer back to Him?
Use your senses and your sacred imagination to notice what is woven through the dusty sacred days.
-
- Smell smells.
-
- Taste tastes.
-
- See sights.
-
- Hear sounds.
-
- Touch textures.
Contemplate in the quiet:
-
- What surprises you?
-
- What offends you?
-
- What humbles you?
-
- What pivots you?
Pray as you pause.
Close each encounter with Jesus talking to the Father, Son, and Spirit about what happens as you experience Jesus experiencing Holy Week.
May Holy Week be a holy walk with the One who came,
comes,
and will come again.
He calls you His beloved.
He shows the depth of His love
through His outstretched arms and His glorious heart
on full display upon the Cross.
The following scriptures can be read daily along with asking yourself the questions above. I invite you to sit with the passages. Ponder the questions and feel what the week holds.
